REVENGE AT SQUAW PEAK
my husband said that everything went right for me on this day.  he was right.  starting with his flight being cancelled and luckily finding another one to get him to Utah in time, to the final hours of Saturday, i would have to agree.

here is my story in pictures.
Brad and i decided to take the early morning start.  it would not give as any time advantage, but it would get us high enough to avoid some of the heat and to also get a chance to see runners passing us.  being able to share in the excitment was well worth it!

crewing for me proved to be a logistical challange.  but nothing is too big for Dana to handle.

he met Brad and I at mile 11.  it was a tough drive to get there, but he found a way.  Brad and I came through in just enough time for Dana to get back off the mountain and receive service to his cell phone at exactly 6:45, the time that Riley needrd to awake in order to make it to his basketball game.

next, he had to meet Shea at the hotel and then head south and up to Hobble Creek to meet us at mile 22, aid station #5.  if we came through too early, they would miss us and would not be able to get my pacer to me.  all went well.  after we made it through, both Shea and Dana had to drive back off the mountain to pick up my pacer.  my estimated time to make mile 26, aid station #6 was 11:00 or after.  i made it at 10:58.  right on time with big hugs waiting for me from the RD John.  Dana, Shea and my pacer Kevin were just pulling up.
if there is a chair, Brad is going to find it.  here he is taking care of a blister at mile 11.
"i'll discuss this with you later!"  he's thinking...
early moring
wake up call for a
4:00 AM early start.
A VIEW IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS

taking advantage of some easy running on the front side.
the two front runners.  it was fun to see all the runners passing by.  Brad got used to me asking "are you famous?" as they would run by.  to which their reply was usualy
"not that i know of."
this is a classic

look!

the snow
on the
front side was limited this year.
this is where we made the wrong turn last year that cost us the race.  mile 23.
the tree branch that i wacked my head on last year.
